Under the project ‘Ignited Minds’ the children from the Women Development and Child Welfare department visited the Infosys campus at Gachibowli on 16th of August. We would like to thank Mr. Raghu Boddupally for giving us the opportunity and Mr. Vamsi for organizing the whole event by partnering with Nirmaan. The leadership team interacted with the children and gave them information on education and how to achieve their goals. They encouraged them to be proactive, to be bold and to support the right thing. They asked the students to make best use of any opportunity given to them, to set goals and dream big.

Ms. Preethi from the Infosys leadership team asked the students, ‘What is it that you do to reach your goal every day?’. The students answered, saying, ‘We learn technical skills and communication skills.’ To this Ms. Preethi and Ms. Shamili added, ‘Please read the English newspaper daily and record it or read it loudly and see the change after 30 days. You will gradually see a change in the level of confidence in you. It would have increased.’

The student’s inquisitiveness led them to ask this question ‘What did you do to reach this leadership role?’. To this the leadership team answered, ‘Please study and keep working towards your goal. Practice and prioritise what you want, it is important to set your priorities right. Work hard and never give up. There is no quantification for hard work. Love what you want and have the willingness to learn.’

Mrs. Vimlesh from the leadership team mentioned that ‘Taking care of mental health is also very important. Do not get carried away by anything else. Stay in touch with each other and change for the good, help others.’

In her address to the students Mrs. Jagadamba, quips ‘Keep yourself updated. Technology keeps changing so always learn and try to be innovative. Please don’t just follow your textbooks. You need to understand the concepts. ‘A student asked Mrs. Preethi, ‘Who is your role model?’ and her response will change your perspective. She said, ‘I have realistic models. They keep changing based on the situation for more achievable goals.’

To conclude the session Mr. Raghu encouraged the students to be true to themselves and hardworking. In his words, You are an inspiration to all. If you do the right thing people will follow you.’ Lastly, we would like to thank the leadership team at Infosys for their time and precious words of advice. For inspiring the children and igniting their minds to dream big!
