What is Operation Sahaya 8.0?
On June 2, 2023, a triple-train collision occurred in Odisha's Balasore district, India. The collision involved the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, a passenger train, and a goods train. The accident killed at least 288 people(and may further increase) and injured over 900. It is one of the deadliest train accidents in Indian history.
In these times of crisis, Nirmaan has decided to launch 'Operation Sahaya 8.0' with an aim to support the Odisha train accident disaster-affected communities.
As a first step, a "Nirmaan Disaster Response team of Experts" is traveling to the "ground zero" (the accident spot in Odisha and to the hospitals where the injured are admitted). We will have our local team deployed to provide the necessary support.
How is Nirmaan helping?
Based on previous interventions during disasters- flood-affected areas from Hyderabad, Assam, Khammam, Kerala and technical knowledge of residents and teams in the/near to ground zero in Odisha, Nirmaan has collated a set of essentials in the form of relief kits which could facilitate the survival of the communities during the crisis. We are working to support the families and communities in all the ways possible.
The kits include:
- Ration Kits
- First Aid and Hygiene Requirements
- Medicines and essentials
We will further work on the rehabilitation of the affected individuals/families with customized support as per the requirement. We will support through our flagship programs under education, employment and entrepreneurship.
