Mulugu and Warangal Flood Relief

Relief Phase : To provide immediate relief and support to the families affected by the Mulugu and Warangal Floods, 2023

The flash floods in Mulugu and Warangal district, Telangana, have brought about a dire and devastating situation for the affected communities. With many lives lost, numerous homes destroyed, and essential infrastructure damaged, the residents are facing immense hardships. The floods have not only resulted in the loss of lives and livelihoods but have also increased the risk of a dengue outbreak, further exacerbating the already critical situation. As the floodwaters recede, the true extent of the damage is becoming apparent leaving residents struggling to recover their homes and livelihoods.

The situation demands immediate attention and support from both the government and humanitarian organizations to provide essential relief and aid to the affected population. The people of Mulugu and Warangal need assistance in rebuilding their lives, homes, and communities, ensuring access to clean water, healthcare facilities, and educational support for those who have lost everything. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those grappling with the aftermath of this natural disaster.

In the face of such devastation, the communities and the local government authorities of Mulugu and Warangal district urgently seek support from individuals, organizations, and the global community. Immediate relief efforts are required to provide food, clean water, and shelter to the flood-affected families who are currently living in precarious conditions. Medical assistance is crucial to prevent the spread of diseases like dengue, especially among vulnerable populations such as pregnant women. Rebuilding homes, restoring infrastructure, and supporting farmers to recover their livelihoods are essential steps toward the region's recovery and resilience. Furthermore, education and psychosocial support for children who have experienced trauma will play a vital role in helping them cope with the aftermath of this disaster. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant impact on the lives of those who have been affected. Together, let us stand in solidarity with the people of Mulugu and extend a helping hand to alleviate their suffering and rebuild their lives.

Objective of the Project

To provide Back-to-Home kits to the families directly affected by the Mulugu & Warangal Floods, 2023. The following on-ground conditions have been considered in preparing the kits:

  • Provide them with essentials that would help them survive the next few weeks of floods.
  • Provide them with basic medicines and health essentials.
  • Drinking water gets scarce as most of the sources for drinking water get contaminated by floods.
  • The region is facing extreme power cuts, mosquitoes and other insects also seek refuge in these flood prone areas. Providing them with candles, mosquito repellents, sanitizers would help them survive these challenges
