Nirmaan Organization is a registered NGO, started by students of BITS Pilani in 2005, dedicated to driving sustainable development and transforming lives through initiatives under Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Health and Wellbeing, Rural Development, and Social Leadership.

In the past 19 years of journey, we have impacted the lives of 3+ million beneficiaries with the support of 500+ full-time employees and a 1000+ strong volunteer network, through various impact-oriented Flagship Programs & Social Leadership Initiatives benefiting Children, Women, Youth, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), LGBTQ+, and Farmers from diverse social backgrounds across 25 States of India while partnering with 200+ Corporate, Government, and Philanthropic partners.

How are the programs funded?

Our programs are funded through donations from individuals, corporate partnerships, grants from foundations, and fundraising events. We also engage in various campaigns to raise funds and awareness.

How will my donation make a difference? How is my donation used?

Nirmaan was started with a humble concept of Save 1 Rupee Per Day, adding to Rs. 30 per month. Today, we are an organization that has impacted millions across the country. This was possible due to the support from donors like you. Your donation directly supports our projects and initiatives, impacting children, women, youth, farmers, and other marginalized communities across the country. You can donate through our online portal: https://nirmaan.org/donate/. We accept various payment methods including credit/debit cards, net banking, and UPI. For offline donations, please contact us at giving@nirmaan.org.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, donations to Nirmaan are eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Tax exemption is valid only in India. We will be issuing 80G tax exemption certificates, regardless of the amount of the contribution, via the email provided in the donor form.

What is the deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act?

Section 80G of the Income Tax Act allows taxpayers to deduct donations made to designated non-profits/NGOs. Donations to these organizations are eligible for tax deductions. When filing the income tax return, the amount donated can be deducted as per Section 80G.

How does a tax exemption donation help in saving tax?

Tax exemption donation reduces the tax liability of the donor by decreasing their taxable income under Section 80G of the IT Act. Only registered charities/trusts/non-profits like Nirmaan Organization can issue 80G tax receipts, which decrease taxable salary by 50% of the donated amount.

How can I claim the 80G tax benefit?

All donations made to Nirmaan Organization are eligible for a 50% deduction from taxable income under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. After making a donation, you will receive an email with the tax exemption receipt, which can be used when filing income tax returns (ITR) for tax deductions.

What is needed while making an 80G donation?

We request all donors to fill out the correct information in our donation form, including Name, Address, PAN Number, and other contact details. This helps us generate accurate 80G receipts and Form 10BE certificates, which are useful for ITR filing.

Is there a minimum donation amount?

For online donations, we request a minimum donation of Rs. 100 to cover documentation expenses for tax exemption. However, there is no such limit for offline donations.

Is there a tax exemption on cash donations as well?

Cash donations up to ₹2,000 are applicable for 80G certificates. If you wish to contribute more than ₹2,000, it must be done through a mode other than cash to qualify for 80G deductions.

How will my donation be acknowledged?

We acknowledge all donations with a thank-you email. Larger donations may receive additional recognition, such as a mention in our annual report or on our website.

Will I receive a receipt for my donation? When can I get a tax exemption certificate?

Yes, you will receive an email receipt for 80G tax exemption immediately after your donation is processed. If you would like a physical receipt, please contact us at giving@nirmaan.org.

What if my tax receipt is lost or misplaced?

You can send an email to giving@nirmaan.org to request a duplicate copy.

I am an NRI. Will I get a tax exemption on my donation?

NRI donors, who are Indian citizens holding an Indian passport, are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Please ensure to add your Indian PAN Card Number on the online donation form to avail of the tax benefits.

Does Nirmaan accept donations in foreign currency? I live outside India, can I still donate?

Yes, Nirmaan accepts donations in foreign (non-INR) currency. We are registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), 2010. To make donations in foreign currency, you need to be an NRI and donate from your foreign bank account. We are also registered in the USA as Nirmaan USA and accept US Dollars.

If I am a resident of the USA, subject to US income tax, will I be eligible for tax exemption?

As a person subject to US Income Tax, you can avail tax exemption under US laws by donating to our sister organization, Nirmaan USA, at https://www.usa.nirmaan.org, which is a legally registered section 501(c)(3) entity under US laws.

Is my online donation secure?

Yes, we use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal and financial information. Our donation platform is encrypted and PCI compliant.

How do you keep a donor’s personal information secure?
