Hope in a Cup: Empowering LGBTQ+ Inclusion

 February 25, 2025

Hope in a Cup: A Bold Step Towards Inclusion & Empowerment

When
Synopsys Inc sponsored Hope in a Cup, Hyderabad’s first café run exclusively by LGBTQ+ individuals, it wasn’t just about opening a café - it was about pioneering queer representation in mainstream businesses like the food industry.

We are thrilled to share that Hope in a Cup supported by Synopsys 2023-2025 has generated an impressive ₹1,038,355 in revenue across two financial years!

What started as a unique initiative soon gained traction, inspiring three more corporate sponsors to fund three additional cafes. These cafes don’t just serve great coffee and snacks; they provide employment, visibility, and dignity to queer individuals, making them some of the very few truly inclusive spaces in the city.

Beyond its success as a business, Hope in a Cup has made a qualitative impact:

✅ Visibility for Queer Talent – Creating representation in corporate and entrepreneurial spaces.
✅ A Safe & Inclusive Space – A café where people can be their authentic selves.
✅ Recognition & Support – Corporate leaders, bureaucrats, and VIPs visiting and appreciating the initiative.
✅ Economic Empowerment – Providing employment to 8 LGBTQ+ individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The success of Hope in a Cup isn’t just in its growing presence but in the empowerment it has brought to the community. Its snack boxes have become a corporate favorite, making their way into events across Hyderabad. But most importantly, it has proven that queer individuals, when given the right opportunities and resources, can excel just like anyone else.

This success wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our corporate partners. One of them has officially onboarded us, and several others are placing orders!

A huge shoutout to Synopsys under the leadership of Bijay Chowdhury for leading the way and supporting an LGBTQ+ café. Your belief in our mission has paved the way for inclusion, employment, and empowerment.
