In rural and tribal regions of India, many families rely on natural resources
for survival but face growing challenges like low productivity, poor nutrition, and weak market
access.
At Nirmaan Organization, we believe that an agro-ecological approach to farming centered
on ecosystem revival, organic practices, traditional seeds, and reduced external input
dependency, offers a powerful solution to this crisis.
Since 2016, weve been working in Dantewada, a remote, hilly, and forested district in South Chhattisgarh, focusing on strengthening agriculture-based livelihoods and building self-reliant communities.
Provide handholding support for organic practices and production of natural inputs.
Preserve traditional seeds and promote cultivation with assured market access.
Encourage cultivation of pulses, millets, vegetables, tubers, and spices.
Train farmers in intensive techniques like SRI, Organic PoPs, and use of modern tools.
Form farmer groups and FPOs for stronger community and market engagement.
Build value chains and connect organic farmers with sustainable markets.
Link farmers with government schemes for holistic ecosystem support.
“Organic farming is a way of existence! After witnessing how chemicals ruined my soil, I chose to return to traditional methods. Now, I grow food that’s healthy for people, animals, and the earth. Through Nirmaan’s support, we are learning from each other and growing together for a better future.
-- Mr. Jagguram Netam, an organic farmer, Dantewada District
