At Nirmaan, we recognize climate change as humanity's most defining challenge in the 21st century, with women and children being the most vulnerable, as highlighted by the United Nations. With our mission to build sustainable communities, we are dedicated to environmental programs that foster a closer connection with nature and promote holistic development. By addressing the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we strive to create a cleaner and greener future for all.
Nirmaan is working to establish full-fledged Environment programs to address the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
In 2020, Nirmaan partnered with Cyberabad Police, Society for Cyberabad Security Council, Vandemataram Foundation, Council for Green Revolution, and Aikyatha Initiative Centre to launch the Seed to Soil Program. This program focuses on the collection, preparation, and dispersal of native tree seeds through seedballs in degraded forests. By mobilizing over 500 youth and employee volunteers, we aim to protect and restore forests while raising awareness about the importance of forestry. Know more
Nirmaan's Green Hope - Kitchen Gardens initiative aims to create sustainable and educational spaces within schools. By implementing permaculture and organic farming principles, these gardens provide fresh, locally sourced fruits and vegetables for school meals while promoting ecological awareness among students. With successful gardens already established at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyapeeth (KGBV) in Moinabad, Telangana in July 2022, and ongoing projects at Balanagar KGBV and Palamakula KGBV, we are nurturing a greener future and empowering young minds.
Nirmaan is actively engaged in lake conservation efforts, working towards restoring and preserving the natural beauty of our waterbodies. Through collaborative initiatives and ongoing research, we are making a significant impact. Here are some highlights of our lake-cleaning initiatives:
As a part of the holistic community development, we at Nirmaan are committed to ensure resilience and sustainable development by including nature-based solutions as guided by the United Nations.
Rainwater harvesting is significant, as it enables the collection and storage of rainwater for various purposes by reducing dependence on freshwater sources and mitigating water scarcity. While solar panels provide clean and sustainable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a greener and more sustainable future.
Through our commitment to action, we have installed rainwater harvesting systems and solar panels in 5 villages and 10+ schools in and around Hyderabad.
When the world went into lockdown during the COVID pandemic, Nirmaan took the opportunity to develop virtual employee engagement programs focused on carbon footprint management. Employees became Eco-champions, calculating their carbon footprint and discovering ways to reduce energy and water consumption even while staying at home. The program also included activities like home gardening, waste management, and composting, promoting practical solutions for an eco-friendly lifestyle. At the end of 6 months, active participants received certificates for their commitment to sustainability.
Besides kitchen gardening, lake cleaning and tree plantations, employees can be inspired to become eco-champions and learn more about protecting nature through some fun activities as listed below.
