MPPS Vellampalle is a government primary school in Jayashankar Bhupalapally, one of the most backward districts of Telangana, serving children from marginalised and vulnerable families.
For the past 20 months, we have been working with the school and community to create better opportunities for its children.
With the support of many people, the funds raised so far have helped provide basic infrastructure, including benches and a water purifier, and enabled us to start a tutor programme.
But our thinking has evolved. We now want to focus more directly on children’s learning, confidence and agency, while building momentum for the school and its infrastructure to receive the attention and support it deserves from the public system.
Our focus has evolved over 20 months. Here’s where we are now.
A tutor who can focus on children.
Since August 2026, Manasa, a graduate, has been working with the children from 2 PM to 5:30 PM on school days. At ₹6,000 a month, she gives children additional time, attention and support, and is also receiving training and mentoring.
More than lessons.
We want children to be confident, curious and active participants in their own learning — able to ask questions, express themselves, try things and explore their interests.
With fewer than 20 children, we can understand and respond to each child’s needs more closely.
Helping the school get the support it deserves.
Infrastructure remains important. We are working with the local public representative, the Block Education Officer and the school leadership to encourage support for the school’s infrastructure needs.
Our role is to build and sustain this momentum, while investing in the children’s learning.
The funds raised so far are supporting the tutor programme through March 2027.
We now want to raise ₹1.45 lakh for 2027–28, primarily to continue the tutor programme and create richer learning opportunities for the children.
